Radiolaria

Entrance/Garden Chair (2011)

- Exhibited at Stockholm Furniture Fair / Green House 2011

Materials: powder coated / anodized steel wire 8 mm in diameter

Nature is one of my greatest inspirations. The idea of radiolaria occurred when I was studying ancient illustrations of plankton and jellyfish. A subset of plankton is called radiolaria, these microscopic animals exist in all possible forms with exciting external skeletal structures ready to be enlarged and modified into new forms.

In order to rationalize production the same bending of steelwire is used for the whole chair. The wire is rotated in a ninety degree angle into an ellipse and welded at the ends.
